PROGETTO TERRA PROTETTA DI LOAZZOLO

TO PRESEVE THE UNIQUE MAGIC OF THIS LAND AND ITS FRUIT

logo_loazzolo

Loazzolo, which nestles in a natural amphitheatre situated at over 500 metres above sea level in the hills of Asti's Alta Langa district, is one of Italy's smallest DOC appellations.
Our ties with this land go back many generations, strengthened by the knowledge that we are the custodians of a truly unique natural heritage that belongs first and foremost to Mother Nature. We have created the Terra Protetta project in recognition of its immense worth.
This incredible terroir is so single-mindedly dedicated to the production of excellent wines and yet it has so many secrets that many are destined to remain a mystery simply because its unfathomable beauty reaches far beyond the limits of rational thought. Nevertheless, we are committed on both a personal and financial level to protecting it and sustaining it. We are grateful for each and every harvest.

Each tells its own tale of human devotion and its fruitful union with nature.

Lodovico, Maria Teresa and Luigi Isolabella della Croce

ONE LAND, ONE GRAPE, ONE DROP

Gli acini di Loazzolo

What makes one wine-growing area so very different from any other?
Latitude, altitude, slope, soil composition, aspect, vine age, soil management, the grower's choices, woodlands, fields, light, hot and cold temperatures, water and dryness.

The grapes represent a faithful expression of these elements, which combine in a unique fashion and are further moulded by the singular, indisputable, and at times almost imperceptible, moods of nature.

Each single grape is the fruit of nature's moods.
Moscato, pinot nero or brachetto grapes grown in the natural amphitheatre of Borgo Isolabella in Loazzolo are smaller and their skin is thicker than grapes grown at a lower altitude in different soils further down the valley.

Chemical analysis highlights an abundance of aromatic components, gutsy acid structure and dense sugars. When crushed these small grapes produce a few precious drops of juice heavy with aromatic substances, sugars and acids.

Nature has modelled these grapes in her image. They are rich, strong, loyal and well-balanced in every aspect.
